When Grandma was young

When Grandma was young

When Grandma was young
Things were much better then
Grandpa was a handsome guy
And Grandma was nice and thin.

When she was a baby
She never fretted as babies do
All her parents heard from her
Was a delightful gurgle and coo.

Children obeyed their parents
And never made a speck of dust
And never pinched or pulled a sibling's hair
And never fought or fussed.

When Grandma was a teenager
Teens obeyed all the rules
And never got in trouble
Nor did parents get calls from schools.

Grandma was a young woman
She was stylishly well covered
With nary a sight of tummy button
And didn't mind being "mothered".

Grandma was such a wonderful example
Of all that a young woman should be
At least I think she must have been-
For that is what she expects of me!

I love to hear stories
About when Grandma was young
And love to hear what she did
When she was young like me
...My grandma as a kid!

I love to see photos in the album
That Grandma keeps at her house
And while she shows me the photos
I sit quietly as a mouse.

I think it is such fun to think back
To how my Grandma must have been
When she was a little girl like me
And imagine what it was like back then!~

What was the world like
When you were a kid?
Tell me what you thought
And about the things you did...

Tell me about the trees you climbed..
And did you scrape your knees?
Did you always remember to say
Thank and to ask with Please?

Did you have friends to play with
And when you began to date
Did you ever get into trouble
By coming home a wee bit late?

Tell me some fun stories
And let's put them in this book
Along with favorite snapshots
So the grandkids can all look.

We want them to see what you were like
And want our loved ones to view
The fun, creatively, love and laughter
That is absolutely, and unqiuely YOU!
